Judy Atrubin teaches an eclectic, energetic style of yoga. Judy, a nationally certified yoga instructor has studied Ashtanga, Iyengar and vinyasa yoga extensively. Currently she teaches people of all ages and abilities in studios, gyms and homes around New York City and has been with the inSHAPE team since early 2009. As a music enthusiast, Judy brings music to her classes and her yoga to music. As well as teaching in New York she teaches yoga at music festivals in the U.S. and abroad.
Judy started doing yoga ten years ago as a complement to running, dancing and her desk job...basically, she came to yoga to get a good stretch. What she found was something far beyond that. She says, "In my yoga classes I blend eastern and western philosophy and my love of movement and music to create a flowing, energetic and joyful practice. My classes aspire to bring you to a place of breath, motion, meditation and peacefulness."
Judy's initial study of yoga began in Minnesota with two excellent teachers - Monique Maxwell (Ashtanga) and William Prottengeier(Iyengar). In 2002, she became a nationally certified instructor, receiving her 500 hour certification from Be Yoga - now Yoga Works and has since taught in the United States and abroad. In New York she has also had the privilege to study with many great teachers, among them Jean Koerner, Dana Strong, Schuyler Grant, Dharma Mitra, Elana Brower and Alan Finger. Finally, Judy is also certified with Karma Kids and loves working with young children.
