About inSHAPE

The inSHAPE team is a passionate group of certified and insured in home personal trainers, yoga instructors, pilates teachers, massage therapists, and nutritionists. Some of us are even a blend of several fitness disciplines. We are educated, diverse in our skills and teaching styles, and stay informed of the latest health and wellness research. Kim Watkins: Owner, Senior Trainer, Podcaster 
Kim directs the day-to-day operations of inSHAPE, trains New York City clients, and teaches our Boot Camp and Running Camps in Central Park. Kim also works with Corporate Fitness Program clients and is a consultant with several public health initiatives. Kim is the voice of inSHAPE on all podcast workouts and creator of our weekly workout series (in the left column).

Though likely found at at her desk during business hours, managing the company’s website, marketing its services, talking to clients, interviewing trainers, and overseeing financials, Kim prefers her time with clients. Whether its chatting over the phone with a prospective client, reviewing fitness goals and health histories, or taking personal training clients through initial workouts before they start a program with one of our in home personal trainers, Kim's favorite moments always occur in the field. She is certified through the American Council on Exercise in general personal training as well as pre and post natal programming. She is CPR certified, and is currently studying physiology via a Duke University online course.

Kim is running coach for the New York Road Runners, Team for Kids Running Program, training runners for the ING NYC Marathon and providing program participants with stretch and strengthen sessions throughout their training program. With six marathons under her belt, Kim is an avid and very freestyle runner.

Angela Hubbs: Senior Trainer, Expert Energy Booster
Angela Hubbs grew up just outside of Washington D.C. but  has traveled the globe living in places like Alaska, Hawaii, Iceland and now New York City.  Angela has been working in fitness since she was 15. She is enthusiastic about sharing her passion for teaching people to be healthy in body, mind, and spirit. Angela can work with you in Manhattan, and she loves the Upper East Side.

Angela is very versitle and maintains certifications and active instruction in yoga, pilates, and personal training. With her Yoga Alliance certification, she teaches a very dynamic, fun, flow vinyasa style yoga; she helps clients focus on specific core work as a Certified Mat Pilates instructor with Physical Mind; and finally, she provides vigorous personalized workouts as an ACE certified personal trainer.  Her goal is not only to help everyone from every fitness level achieve their fitness goals but also to get connected with thier mind and inhance their lives. She focuses on fitness for your body, your mind....your life!

Margot Staub: Senior Trainer, Head Sports Coach
Margot is a graduate of Duke University where she competed in the Heptathlon on the Varsity Track and Field Team. Some of her most noteworthy credits include: The Junior Olympics, Nationals, and Penn Relays. Like most collegiate athletes, Margot suffered her share of injuries due to over-training. She spent several years post-college in physical therapy learning how to safely and properly build strength, flexibility and endurance.

Throughout her 12+ years in the fitness industry (nearly all of which have been with Team inSHAPE), Margot has always tried to incorporate a fresh approach to physical fitness while maintaining the well-being of her clients. She believes in treating the whole person and takes pride in helping her clients reach their health and fitness goals. In addition to in home personal training, Margot also enjoys teaching inSHAPE's Civilized Bootcamp classes in Central Park.

Margot can work with you as your In Home Personal Trainer on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She is also a group fitness instructor at our Boot Camp classes.

Trey Gilbert: Trainer, Corrective Exercise Expert
Growing up in the frigid tundra of Chicago, Trey learned early on the importance of moving well and moving often, and as long-time suffering Cubs fan, the importance of humor. He exhibited his love of sports as a high school athlete, competing on the Tennis and Golf teams. Trey’s passion for golf led him to studying at the San Diego Golf Academy, becoming a Golf Instructor at numerous courses throughout Wisconsin. Trey has taught hundreds of golfers, from the nervous beginner to the accomplished club amateur champion.

Trey also graduated from the prestigious Swedish Institute (NYC) in the year long Advanced Personal Training program. He is certified as a Personal Trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine, and holds certifications as a Kettle Bell instructor and Functional Movement Systems specialist.

Trey breathes his philosophy of ‘Move well, then move often’ with each client by teaching proper form, specializing in aerobically challenging circuit training, incorporating a wide variety of functional exercises, and adding some fun to a clients training. His greatest joy is when a client reaches her/his goal, whether it’s training for a wedding dress size, achieving an athletic body for your Zog sport, or just increasing your strength and endurance for the physical rigors of living in New York City.

You will find Trey training every day, using interval sprinting in Central Park, bodyweight circuit training (in the living-room), Pilates, or kettle bells for added strength.

Trey can work with you as your In Home Personal Trainer in any neighborhood in Manhattan.

Doreen Tinajero, Massage Therapist
Doreen is a fully insured New York State licensed massage therapist.  She specializes in Swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu, body enlightenment, prenatal, Jamu and sports massages and can adapt those disciplines to a table or matted floor.  She takes pride in her craft and she continues to master it by honing her skills and broadening her knowledge of massage techniques.  This year she plans to complete certifications in Thai and Hot Stone massage. 

Doreen believes the key to a successful massage is a thorough assessment followed by thorough body work.  Massage can play an important role in easing pain and helping to achieve a sense of balance and well-being in a person’s life.  Listening with my hands, caring about the outcome of the work, and being totally present, I believe each massage becomes a unique experience dependent on what is happening right then with the client. 

After pursuing a degree in Anthropology the State University of New York in Albany, Doreen returned to New York City and enrolled at both Marymount Manhattan College, where she completed an undergraduate degree in Speech-Language and Hearing Pathology, and also the Swedish Institute, where she completed an Associates Degree of Occupational Arts in Massage Therapy. 

Since then, Doreen and her competent hands have worked their magic at Equinox fitness, Exhale Spa NYC, and Glow Skin Spa. In addition, she has volunteered her massage expertise for New Alternatives for Children, a not-for-profit organization that serves children with medical disabilities and/or chronic illnesses and their families. Doreen can work with you as your Massage Therapist in Manhattan.

Tai Verley, Client Liaison
Tai is a native New Yorker, with a penchant for office work, and a love for acting. With a B.A. from Vassar College and an M.F.A. from The New School for Drama, Tai is a trained actor who gladly gives her personality to the behind the scenes work at inSHAPE. As the youngest of 4 children, lover of dance and cooking, and frequent bowler, she didn't realize that acting, especially in Shakespeare's plays, would also lead to fitness and the inSHAPE team, but it did.

As an avid home-yoga practitioner and some-time runner, she loves what inSHAPE gives to its clients: the freedom to take control of one's fitness needs without the need of a gym. Making sure that inSHAPE runs smoothly with her knowledge of Excel and using her personable nature to interact with clients, Tai is glad to be one of helpful Administrative factors at inSHAPE.

That said: if you should ever find that you are in a quandary and in need assistance, she is also more than willing to answer any and all of your questions.

Patricia Blaho, Nutritionist
Patricia has been in clinical practice for more than 6 years. She received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Chicago. After moving to New York, she completed undergraduate work in Nutrition at Hunter College followed by prestigious internship and fellowship programs at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Cornell Campus. Patricia is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the Greater New York Dietetic Association.

As a key member of the inSHAPE team, Patricia works with clients in a partner-relationship, providing personalized counseling to help them reach their goals. In addition to her clinical practice, Patricia serves as an expert nutrition consultant for the Health Report segment on NY1.  In her personal life, Patricia is dedicated to her own health and wellness as demonstrated by her successful completion of the 2001 New York City Marathon.
