This is a beginner running program for those with little or no experience running. It's an un-intimidating introduction to running in a structured workout environment. Gradual increases in distance and intensity with a focus on good running form to prevent injury. A coached workout with safety in mind. You will be given a guided workout and a program for the week to complete on your own.
The one-hour program format consists of only 15 to 20 minutes of running to start, and increases to about 40 minutes of running. All workouts also include running form drills and warm-up and cool down stretching with core work.
This nine week series prepares you to run a 4-mile race (suggested event: Japan Day Run on June 6, 2010 - entry fee not included with program); it is recommended that you attend the full program but single sessions can be purchased separately for $30.
